Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been bitten by the karma bug, it seems.

The DA was hit with two lawsuits from the right-leaning Heritage Foundation demanding that his office turn over records related to its indictment of former President Donald Trump.

The lawsuits were filed as a result of Bragg’s non-compliance with two Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests pertaining to his correspondence with the Justice Department, the White House, and Democratic lawmakers concerning the prosecution of Trump, the Washington Examiner reported.

“Bragg and his office charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records in April. Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges, which stem from hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election,” the outlet added. The organization “claimed in its first lawsuit that Bragg’s suspected communication with the DOJ led to several House GOP committee investigations.”

“Regrettably, these questions have not been met with answers. These reports have raised concerns in many circles based in large part upon the longstanding history of President Trump’s political opponents coordinating their activities to systematically weaponize the criminal justice system against him and thereby pervert the course of Justice,” the first lawsuit says.

Another lawsuit filed by Heritage claimed that the district attorney received pro bono assistance from prominent law firms. The lawsuit seeks a court order compelling Bragg to produce documents related to these firms and requests that his team be prohibited from “seeking costs and fees for the request at issue in this case.”

“Bragg crossed the Rubicon by indicting President Trump on a document retention dispute. Well, now he has a document retention dispute with us. We look forward to him being forced to comply with the law. The weaponization must end and we will do all we can to see that it does,” Heritage Foundation Oversight Project Director Mike Howell said in a statement

“The fact we have to file a lawsuit against Bragg, who says he can’t produce these records and says he doesn’t have the systems to do so, is proof-positive of another dual standard of justice at play in this country,” Howell told Fox News Digital.

“You have a weaponized actor who’s going after the former president on a loony theory about his document retention, whereas the DA can’t even keep his own documents, and it’s in violation of the information laws he is bound by,” he said.

“He’s a hypocrite. He’s wasting an exorbitant amount of New York’s taxpayer’s dollars to defend this now and delay it and obstruct it when he could’ve just turned it over,” he noted further.
